About the Moviemakers
Morecambe Bay Movie makers is a group of independent local film makers.
Our club is one of the most active in the North West with about 30 members, and growing. We have been film and video making, in all its aspects, in the area since the club was formed in 1970.The club have a full weekly programme of activities including “how to do it” evenings, competitions, guest speakers, practical video making and social evenings.
Morecambe Bay Movie Makers are a socially aware club and like to go into the community giving presentations and showing members films to a wide range of groups and societies. We like to make movies about our area and special events as well as for other organisation’s. These have included special needs schools, Music for Heroes Concert in Kendal, RNLI lifeboats, re-enactment groups, Bay Search and Rescue Service. Recently we filmed the Heysham M6 link road construction with the co-operation of Costain Group PLC.
We have a range of equipment which is available to established club members to supplement their own kit when working on their individual projects .
The club has a close working relationship with the North West Film Archives in that material has been loaned to the club in return we have filmed events specifically at their request in the area for inclusion in the Archive for future generations to study and enjoy. We welcome anyone of any age or experience to join us, just as long as they are interested in movie making.
