Club Night Events Programme
The club meets weekly between September and April
Weekly activities include :-
External Speakers. These are usually professionals who earn their living out of Film and Television industry. Recent speakers have included professional video makers, television or Film producers, TV Actors, news and sports TV Camera operators and Northwest Film Activists. It is common for them to show examples of their work and to talk about it.
Internal Speakers. are members, who talk about their filming activities. More experienced members will talk about technical topics such as use of drones, safety and regulations, editing techniques, software, use of sound and animation.
Competitions are held periodically. Members wishing to do can enter short films in categories such as local interest,60 second films, documentaries and holiday films.
Programme For 2026
9 MARCH – Mike Ellis will show slides and video of 200 years of railways. The railways celebrated their 200th year last year and Mike will take us through this amazing story.
16 MARCH – One minute competition and The Cumbria competition. Bring 3 films – total time (3mins 20 secs) long. Three ways of doing a subject or three different subjects. To be judged by members.
23 MARCH – Play the rushes of film taken by members on the Lancaster Canal. These will be uploaded by Frank and will be edited next week at the meeting.
30 MARCH – Edit the canal film as a group. Could be a very interesting evening.
6 APRIL – Easter. All of us go out and film on our smart phones. Venue to be discussed.
13 APRIL – Continue to edit the smart phone film which we took last week. If we don’t finish, this can be continued perhaps next season.
20 APRIL – Music to fit film. Dave W will send a disk with the same clip but with 3 different pieces of music. (Each 1min 30secs long.) At the end of the 3rd clip the DVD will be paused and we will discuss which piece fit best. There’s approx 2hrs worth of content, so loads to go at.The music is from MBMMs library.
In the second half members will bring along short sections of their own films where they think the music sounds good.
27 APRIL – End of season dinner.
